What our TfS students have to say...

Brenda CollBrenda Coll - Level 2 Business Administration
“The College is really close to me so getting here is no problem, I’m so glad I made the decision to sign up!
The placement part of the course is great as I get to spend two days per week in an office environment within the College.  The staff have made me feel really welcome and I have lots of work to get through. I enjoy it and they make me feel as part of the team and not just as being on a placement.
I do plenty of administrative tasks like photocopying, filing and word processing. It gives me a real idea as to what working in administration will be like.
The training allowance of £40 per week is great too…I can earn while I am learning!.”

“I’m loving this course so far. I have a placement for two days each week in Newbuildings Youth Club on reception.
I meet new people everyday and no two days are the same. The £40 per week comes in really handy too as I don’t have to ask for money when I want something.
I’m hoping to stay on in the College and gain more qualifications so I’m glad I made the decision to come here.”

Lauren ArnoldLauren Arnold - Strabane - Level 3 Early Years
I knew the College well as I’d been here whilst still at Holy Cross. I knew my way around and some of the lecturers.
I love it here and it’s just round the corner from my home.
I look forward to going into my placement every time. The kids are just fantastic and working with them is no rewarding.  I go into St. Anne’s Primary School two days per week – I should know it well enough as it’s my old school!
I get £40 per week for full attendance and the money is great. I’m saving up at the minute to go on holiday.

Sophie DevineSophie Devine - Strabane - Level 1 Early Years
After listening at the talk I decided to go along to the Open Day and have a look around for myself.
I knew a couple of the girls in my class so it wasn’t too hard settling in.
“The placement and training allowance is amazing. I get to work with the children helping them with their sentences and watching them play. I want to be a primary school teacher one day.”

James McGowanJames McGowan - Derry - Level 1 Workskills
“I’m enjoying every moment, especially Thursday’s as that’s the day I’m out on my placement. The College is a good place to learn and the lecturers treat me very well. I get great one-to-one support and feel as if I can ask them anything. They treat me like an adult and that gets me interested in getting my work done.  The training allowance was definitely a reason in me joining the TFS scheme and I’m currently saving it up every week.”
James is on work placement with Elagh Tree Surgery and is hoping to continue his studies with the College next year.
